Our mission
We are the driving force behind the sustainability of the built environment in the Netherlands. As a social knowledge and network organisation, we play a guiding role in this complex transition. We put important issues on the agenda, inspire and share knowledge about CO2-neutral, circular, climate-adaptive, socially sustainable and nature-inclusive buildings and areas. We make sustainability integrally measurable with BREEAM-NL as a common language. Together with more than 400 DGBC partners, we form the largest movement for making the built environment more sustainable in the Netherlands. We connect the market and government. In this way we make a difference for a living environment in which we, and the generations after us, can live and work pleasantly and in good health.
What we do
We make knowledge and tools available in order to make sustainability concrete and measurable. We develop impactful programs based on five central themes. You can find our present annual plan and recent annual reports below.
Cooperation
Dutch Green Building Council is an established member of the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC). WorldGBC unites all councils in the world. Nearly 100 countries have a council aimed at improving sustainability of the built environment.
Our vision
We believe in a future in which the built environment makes a positive contribution to the well-being of people and nature in the Netherlands. It is a living environment in which we and the generations after us can live and work comfortably and in good health. Together with the market and our government, we work on CO2-neutral, circular and climate-adaptive buildings and areas that contribute to the social and natural living environment. By providing guidance, sharing knowledge and making sustainability measurable, we accelerate the sustainability of the built environment in the Netherlands.
