Education Manager - World GBC Europe Regional Network

Hours of work: 37.5 hours; normally 9am-5:30pm (includes some out-of- hour phone calls/trips)

Length of contract: initial one-year contract with a view to renewal

Background
The World Green Building Council connects a global coalition of more than 100 national Green Building Councils (GBCs) and their 27,000 member organisations with a single mission: to transform the building industry and ensure that the places we live, learn, work and play are good for the health of people, the strength of our economy and the future of the planet.
Green Building Councils are not-for-profits that work locally to define and drive industry best practice, help governments shape policy, and build a culture of cross-sector collaboration.
Our Europe Regional Network (ERN) consists of more than 30 national Green Building Councils and works in collaboration with more than 4,500 member companies across Europe, which represent the full breadth of stakeholders in the buildings industry.
Introduction to the role
Training and education is an important role of any GBC. Our ERN has identified two key objectives in its work in the sphere of education:
1. Support GBCs in developing and delivering high quality education in their markets and,
2. Strive toward harmonization of green building knowledge across the region.
Job description
Currently our ERN Education Task Force works to:
Increase the quality and quantity of Education tools and resources available to facilitate GBCs sharing knowledge and developing robust education programs.
Develop and maintain a Common Education Platform to increase brand awareness and relevance of Europe’s Green Building Councils in a rapidly- developing marketplace of Education.
Seek alignment with relevant EU or other regional level education initiatives and programs.
Ensure alignment with the public policy work of the ERN.
Track and report measures of our achievements as GBCs grow their
education programs.
Main responsibilities:
We see the role of an Education Manager as mainly:
Drivethedevelopment,maintenanceandgrowthofourCommon Education Platform.
SeekalignmentandopportunitieswithintheEU’svariouseducation programs, platforms and initiatives
IdentifyandapplyforEUgreenconstructionskillsfunding
ProvidegeneralguidanceandsupporttoGBCswhoaredevelopingtheir
education programs.
Other responsibilities:
Lead WorldGBC Europe Regional Network’s education stream
Co-ordinate pan-Europe education taskforce.
Report initiation, research and writing.
Managing consultants/research/support staff or interns.
Represent the World GBC Europe Network GBCs in a range of forums (e.g. EU skills forums in Brussels).
Liaison with GBC membership across Europe to extract best practice
Relationship building with other international organizations and platforms
Preparation of briefing notes on upcoming EU education programs and
opportunities.
Speaking engagements, including at international conferences and events.
Education input to seminars, conferences and other events.
Act as media spokesperson when required.
Liaison with Europe Network Senior Policy Advisor to ensure alignment
between public policy and education workstreams.
Regular travel to GBCs to provide support on education programmes.
Contribute to global education initiatives such as our annual ‘GBC University’
sessions at Congress or education program best practice sharing beyond Europe.
